Mountain Goat

Taiwan’s Enchanted Canyon
Truly enchanting!
Mountain Goat Canyon is one of the best-value canyoning trips in Northern Taiwan. Just a short drive from Taipei, it packs in multiple rappels, deep pools, and dramatic scenery — all manageable within a single day.
The route begins with three straightforward drops, each a good warm-up and rappelable outside of the main flow. Things step up at the fourth waterfall, where two tributaries converge and the creek plunges into a dark pool at the junction.
The highlight comes at the fifth drop — a 45-meter free-hanging rappel into a wide, bowl-shaped cavern. Immediately after, Crescent Bend offers another standout scene: the watercourse hooks right while you rappel into a cavern carved deep into the left canyon wall.
With its sequence of progressively more exciting rappels, varied terrain, and easy access from the city, Mountain Goat Canyon has earned its reputation as one of the most popular canyoning day trips in Northern Taiwan.
